A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
Everyone remembers being in awe of all those incredible feats found in the Guinness Book of World Records and wondered secretly to themselves if they could ever be part of something like that!
Amazingly enough, we are burning the candle at both ends to ensure that the right people attend the Big Braai event in Wanganui so that when this new World Record is set – it is correctly and accurately recorded for posterity!
We have done our homework and find that there has never been a record set for the most folks simultaneously barbequing on charcoal open fires in the world – Wanganui will have her name up in lights in the Guinness Book of Records if we achieve this feat!
This will mean that official auditors from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to make sure that all the rules and regulations are adhered to and a brand new record can be entered into the famous book.
The centre of the arena at Cook’s Gardens Wanganui will be set up with 640 barbeque ‘spots’ – each spot can host a maximum of six people. The barbeque itself will have a grid attached and the folks taking part will be supplied with charcoal and firelighters to get the ball rolling!
At the given signal, all the fires will have burned down to ‘perfect for barbequing’ coals and everyone will start cooking their meat which they bring along with them – of course, the choice is yours as to what you decide to barbeque – anything edible really!
It’s really important to note that should you wish to take part in the Record attempt, you will need a special ticket for this. Tickets are issued to ‘spots’ on the map of the arena and each ‘spot’ costs $60.00 – since you can have up to six folks at the ‘spot’ with you, each person will only have to put $10.00 into the pot!
Make sure you bring all your sundries along with you – barbeque spices, turning tongs, hats for the sun, chairs, beverages and so on and so forth – it’s going to be something really special to be part of!
